Has Anderson played his final game for Manchester United?
It appears that Anderson will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer after making just 93 appearances for the Red Devils
The curious case of Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira. He was signed in 2007 for a reported fee of £17 million, although the 24-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the first team since arriving from Porto, where he had only made a handful of appearances.
It’s easy to forget that Anderson actually made eight senior appearances for the Brazil senior team between 2007 and 2008, although any hope of representing his country in Rio next year are practically non-existent, with the midfielder struggling to get a game for United.
It appears that Anderson has agitated for a move in the past and perhaps Sir Alex Ferguson will be prepared to cut his losses on a player that last featured at the Stadium of Light on 20 March when Manchester United won 1-0.
However, the Brazilian has not been in the squad for the past two matches and it appears as though he will be heading out of the exit door this summer.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has denied that his team will be complacent between now and the end of the season, with United having lost Monday’s derby against Manchester City.
“If you look at our history over the years we always make it difficult for ourselves,” said United boss Ferguson.
“The supporters are hanging on the edge of their seats every year. It is a 12-point lead, we go to Stoke at the weekend and we will have a go.”
